Mr. Abdulgalil Besher is the Managing Director of MAC Beverages Group, a privately owned group with investments in the beverages and packaging sectors in the MENA region, primarily in Egypt, but also in Yemen & Libya. Abdulgalil Besher holds a Masters Degree in Architecture and began his career as the General Manager of city planning in The Ministry of Works in Sanaa, Yemen. In 1976, he joined the family business and participated in the growth of the trading unit of the group, where he gained extensive experience in trading soft commodities (primarily sugar and petroleum products). In 1984, he moved to London to head the trading division of the family group. In 1989, he was promoted to head the beverage and packaging group’s Egyptian assets, and in 1993 he engineered the joint venture of the beverage interests with Coca-Cola Company upon the privatization of the soft drinks bottling assets of the Egyptian government.
In 1994, he was appointed as the Chairman of Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt, and is also the Chairman of the Yemen and Libyan beverages investments.
Abdulgalil Besher is the Chairman of Middle East Glass Manufacturing Company (MEG), a company listed in the Egyptian Stock Exchange and which is the leading supplier of glass containers and PET to the food and beverage sector in the region.
Abdulgalil Besher is an active member of the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and holds several other directorships and advisory positions.
